For a simple and flavorful Khmer breakfast, Bay Sach Jruk is a perfect choice. Thinly sliced pork is marinated in a blend of fish sauce, soy sauce, garlic, sugar, and black pepper, then roasted until caramelized and tender. Served alongside rice, a fried egg, and fresh herbs or vegetables, it creates a balanced meal that is both savory and slightly sweet. This straightforward yet satisfying dish highlights the subtle flavors of Cambodian cuisine, making it a beloved morning staple.

A Hot Beef Soup Cooling Down the Cool Weather
The cool evening air nips at your skin as you lift a steaming bowl of beef soup, the rich aroma of slow-cooked meat, herbs, and spices rising in gentle curls, filling your senses with warmth. Each spoonful brings tender chunks of beef, soft vegetables, and savory broth that coat your mouth in comforting flavor, while the heat seeps into your hands and spreads through your body, creating a cozy, satisfying contrast to the crisp chill outside. Around you, the soft clink of spoons and quiet murmur of conversation make the experience feel even more inviting, turning a simple meal into a comforting, soul-warming escape.
The Best Beef BBQ in town
The moment you step into the restaurant, the warm glow of hanging lanterns bathes the space in amber light, casting soft shadows on wooden tables. The air is thick with the intoxicating aroma of smoky beef sizzling over hot coals, mingling with the pungent, savory scent of Prohok sausage slowly roasting on the grill. You hear the satisfying hiss and pop of fat hitting the flames, the occasional clink of tongs against metal, and the soft murmur of laughter and conversation weaving through the space.

Picnic at the Riverside
The river flows lazily under the afternoon sun, its surface sparkling like scattered diamonds. A gentle breeze rustles the leaves of the trees lining the bank, carrying the fresh, earthy scent of grass and water. You spread a soft blanket on the warm, sun-kissed ground, letting it settle among the wildflowers and pebbles.
Time slows here. Conversations drift, laughter lingers, and the only clock is the movement of the water and the drifting clouds. You lean back, feeling the warmth of the sun, the gentle caress of the breeze, and the peaceful rhythm of the river. Every sip of tea and every bite of fruit tastes richer, sweeter, as if the riverside itself has made everything more alive.
As evening approaches, the sky blushes in pink and gold, reflecting on the water. The world feels quiet, calm, and infinite—a perfect riverside picnic, where memories are stitched into the soft hum of nature around you.
An Evening at the Pavilion Café Shop
Every weekend, families from the city loved to visit the Pavilion Café Farm, a special place where a warm, wooden café sat right in the middle of a cheerful mini-farm.
Couples linger over steaming drinks, friends share quiet laughter, and a soft jazz melody drifts from hidden speakers. Steam curls from your cup of cappuccino, and as you sip, the warmth spreads through you, making the evening feel gentle, slow, and endless. You slip into a café tucked along a quiet corner—away from the rush but close enough to feel the heartbeat of the place. Cushioned seats, soft jazz, and the gentle clatter of cups create a pocket of calm in the middle of the city. Baristas greet you with easy smiles, already preparing lattes stacked with silky foam, or iced drinks that catch the light like tiny jewels.

Khmer Duran
Durian is a fruit that inspires either love or shock the moment its scent drifts through the air. Known across the world as the “king of fruits,” it has a thick, spiky shell that looks almost medieval, as if it’s guarding something precious—or dangerous—inside. Once opened, the pale golden segments reveal a soft, custard-like flesh with a flavor people describe in wildly different ways: sweet, creamy, nutty, sometimes with hints of caramel or onion, depending on who you ask.
Its smell is legendary. Some say it’s too strong, too bold, too strange; others say it’s part of the charm, a dramatic introduction to a fruit that’s anything but ordinary. But if you get past the scent, the first bite is unforgettable—rich, silky, and unlike anything else in the world.
Camping at the SEA
Camping by the sea is a mix of calm, wild, and unforgettable. The moment you step onto the sand with a pack on your shoulders, the world shifts—everything slows down except the waves. Setting up a tent near the shoreline means falling asleep to the steady rhythm of water, as if the ocean is breathing beside you.

Ta Tay Water Fall-Koh Kong
Hidden deep within the lush forests of Koh Kong, Ta Tey Waterfall feels like a secret whispered by nature. As you approach, the sound of rushing water grows gentle and rhythmic, like a welcome call from the jungle. Sunlight slips through the tall trees, scattering soft golden sparks across the path until the waterfall reveals itself—wide, serene, and endlessly flowing.
The Matcha
Unlike the sharp kick of coffee, morning matcha offers a steady rise of energy. Whisked into a frothy green cloud, it brings clarity without chaos. It’s the perfect blend of wakefulness and calm, helping the day start with focus and intention.

Fresh Morning at the Forest With Breakfast
The forest was cool and quiet in the early morning, with soft sunlight slipping through the trees. I made a simple breakfast while birds sang around me and the air smelled fresh and earthy. Eating warm food in the middle of nature felt peaceful and refreshing—like the perfect start to a calm day.
Best Weekend Escape Ever by Tried on Local Food
Last weekend, I escaped the busy city and spent two relaxing days in a small countryside town at Koh Kong. The air felt fresher, the streets were quiet, and everything moved at a slower, calmer pace. One of the best parts of the trip was trying the local food.
I visited a tiny family-run Fried Banana (Chek Chean) where made with fresh banana from nearby farms. I also have a chance to tried on chicken wings BBQ with full of herbs, and a sweet dessert that tasted like something passed down through generations. Each meal felt more personal than anything I usually eat in the city.
By the time the weekend was over, I realized that the flavors of the place were just as memorable as the beautiful views and food.

Cambodia Dessert: Num Ah Kor Thnoat
Preah Dak village, Siem Reap
Num akor (sometimes written “Nom Ah Kor” or “Num Ah Kor Tnaot”) is a traditional Khmer steamed cake made from fermented rice flour, palm sugar, and water.
Random Khmer Dessert
Khmer desserts hold a special place in Cambodian culture, carrying with them the memories of family gatherings, festive celebrations, and the gentle rhythm of everyday life.
Num Akor
Each treat—whether it’s the soft sweetness of Num Akor, the fragrant richness of coconut puddings, or the colorful layers of Num Angkunh Orndet—reflects the creativity and warmth of the Khmer people. These desserts are more than flavors; they are stories passed down through generations, reminders of tradition, and symbols of connection. To taste a Khmer dessert is to savor a piece of Cambodia’s heart.

WEEKEND TRIP TO KIRIROM
One of the absolute highlights of my Kirirom trip wasn’t just the cool weather or the pine forest—it was the food. Honestly, I think my stomach had a better vacation than I did.
One of the surprisingly best foods I tried at Kirirom Mountain was… frog.
Yes. Frog. And no, it didn’t taste like a frog from a cartoon — it was actually delicious.
We found a small spot selling grilled chicken, and wow—WOW.
Crispy outside, juicy inside, and the smell?
CAMPING UNDER THE FULL MOON
I always thought sleeping in a tent would be uncomfortable, cold, and maybe even a little scary. Still, when my Uncle invited me on a weekend camping trip, something inside me said, “Why not?” So I packed a sleeping bag, borrowed a tent, and hoped for the best.
As the sun set, everything changed. The forest got darker, but also more magical. The air cooled, and the campfire became our warm, glowing center. When it was time to sleep, I crawled into the tent, zipped it closed, and listened. At first every sound felt mysterious: rustling leaves, distant insects, the wind brushing the walls of the tent. But after a while, those noises became a kind of lullaby.
I woke up early to soft morning light and birdsong. When I stepped outside, the world was cool and fresh, as if the day had been waiting just for me. That morning fruit and marshmallow by the fire tasted better than any breakfase I’d ever had at home.
BEST SWEET TAMARIND EVER
During the last trip to Chiphat-Koh Kong i found my self fall in love with this sweet Tamarind. Just one bite it makes you to try another bites until you realized you have finished one big glass. If you are Tamarind lovers, i bet you should try this in Cambodia.
